I remember the days when I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing Payless shoes. The amount of whining and complaining I did over “non-designer” products is shameful. As children, we expect the next best clothes, shoes, and backpacks. Why? Just for the mere reason that “the other kids in class have it”. Some grow out of this mentality, others do not. Thankfully, I grew out of this stage several years ago. I credit this to my parent’s tough love and the many tables I waited on in college. While I may have forgotten the words to the Olive Garden birthday song, I will never forget the meaning of a dollar. Others may call me “frugal” but I call myself “money smart”. So, forgive me Payless (and my parents), for I now appreciate your cute shoes and generous prices.

Many of you may be under the impression that cooking is an expensive hobby. Lo and behold, I have purchased 80% of my pots, cutlery, and plates at my local discount store. TJ MAXX, Marshalls, and Ross have become my go-to kitchen stores. They often have designer cookware for 1/2 the price. Yes, William Sonoma is always inviting with their pleasant staff and yummy samples but not all of us have an abundance of disposable income. There is no need to purchase the top of the line equipment if you are just a casual cook like myself. During one of my recent trips to Marshalls and Ross, I took my camera along to document a few of the many products that could be yours.
These beautiful blue porcelain plates? $2.99 at Marshalls.
I saw this mug on Pinterest.com a few months ago and adored it. Who would have thought I’d find it at Marshalls for under 5 bucks?!
Look at all this cookware…Bet these designer products even beat Walmart’s prices.
Oh and this adorable apron? Snatched it at Ross for a whopping $8.99.
Save your money on the equipment and use it on fresh, organic, ingredients. Don’t break the bank just break the plate.
Happy shopping!
